Camaro 2010 shaking the muscle auto stereotype

Although the Camaro by Chevrolet is synonymous with a muscle auto, General Motors wants to present you a different way of thinking about the brand new 2010 unit. With fuel efficiency plus an overall green look being more important to the present car customers, GM will try now to push a few of the green attributes of Camaro rather than its ability of tire-smoking.
According to Mark LaNeve, the GM vice president of sales and marketing in North America, GM will be highlighting the styling and the V6 fuel economy of the Camaro, instead of transforming the V8 high-performance unit, the face in the Camaro lineup. “We won’t position it as a muscle car,” LaNeve said to the BusinessWeek. “The mainstream positioning will be fuel economy, design and a V6”.
While Camaro might consider the four-cylinder Camaro a blasphemy, the turbocharged 2.0L model does put out 260 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque, quite impressive — far more than that V8 Camaros made in the 1970s and the 80s. And with so much power on, the four-cylinder Camaro model would be offering 50 more horsepower than the Ford Mustang V6 and 10 more than a Dodge Challenger V6-equipped — all while it’s delivering better economy of fuel.
