Kia reveals the 2009 Optima
At the International Auto Show New York, Kia debuted its revised Optima 2009. This newly facelifted sedan has a handful of performance, technology upgrades and styling that push it a bit above the basic `nip and tuck` mid-cycle change.
Kia has added 16 horsepower to that base four cylinder, this thanks to all-new variable valve timing. Now the 2.4 liter four-cylinder puts out 178 horsepower. This V6 received a small power bump also, though Kia hasn't yet confirmed the final figures.
The Optima '09 sports a freshened rear and front, both of which signal a brand new design direction, this according to the Korean carmaker. A lower grill that鈥檚 surrounded in chrome, some angular headlamps and all-new integrated fog lamps - expected to be carrying over to other brand new products from Kia.
The new Optima model gains basic Sirius satellite radio and it will be offering optional ultra-polished wheels of 17 inch, turn signals integrated right into the door mirrors plus sport leather seats. Basic wheels are of 16 inches.
Kia hasn't unveiled the pricing, but they do say that the auto will be later this year on sale as a 2009 unit.
