The SAE World Congress 2008 will unveil for its visitors the all-new diesel- electric hybrid variant of the Scorpio SUV. This announcement was made by Mahindra&Mahindra today, one of the leading carmakers on the market in India, which developed the diesel hybrid variant with support from the FEV, a leading producer of some advanced powertrain and autos technologies.
"The Scorpio vehicle is a clear indicator of the enormous implications of globalization on the changing paradigm in vehicle development. A rapid advancement of technology is occurring on a global scale, and our OEM customers are increasingly leveraging FEV鈥檚 global presence to ensure around- the-clock development of new powertrain and vehicle concepts鈥�, said Mr. Gary Rogers, the president and CEO of FEV.
The Scorpio by Mahindra hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is really the first of this kind to be on the market in Asia and FEV contributed the expertise in this hybrid powertrain systems development plus integration to support Mahindra in hybridization of the car. "FEV has been a very receptive and experienced partner in the program and is known for their HEV work across the globe. With their support, we were able to meet our aggressive targets," said Dr. Arun Jaura, the Chief Technology officer, at Mahindra Group.
