BMW will reveal a small ZEV (Zero Emissions Vehicle) in 2012 supposedly. Supposed to be named Isetta, the upcoming tiny auto was created because of all-new Californian regulations, requiring big vehicle makers to be selling between a few hundred and a few thousand ZEV units from 2012 every year.
Norbert Reithofer BMW chief recently affirmed the firm 鈥渨ould be obliged to sell a Zero Emissions Vehicle under the US regulations and that a battery car was 鈥渢he most likely answer鈥�.
Reithofer said also that BMW could have made just a few hundred autos to meet the American regulations but admitted the company was wondering also if it could use this basic concept 鈥渘ot just for an electric car but also for a range of city cars鈥�. These autos would use diesel and petrol motors, and could feature even BMW motorcycle engines.
