The popular design work firm, Pininfarina, decided on making its work well known outside also. They plan to open a Research, Design and Engineering Center located in Pune, India before the 2008鈥檚 end. Just a few weeks ago during Auto China 2008 show in Beijing, Pininfarina showed off its newest design work, the amazing Maserati Gran Turismo S.
It seems that the Research, Design and Engineering Center plan is also backed by the Tata Motors, who signed the letter of intention on taking a minority stake of the center, placing contracts with it. 鈥淭his agreement witnesses the great attention Pininfarina is dedicating to an emerging and highly developing market such as the Indian one鈥� declares Andrea Pininfarina, the Chairman and CEO of Pininfarina S.p.A. .
The center will not only concentrate on the market in India, it will provide services for some other international automakers also. It鈥檚 not mentioned what this means for Jaguar and Land Rover. In the past there have been some projects between Pininfarina and Jaguar, including 2003 Jaguar X- Type Estate and 1978 Jaguar XJ Spider. Ratan Tata 鈥� Tata Chairman, has declared recently that they plan on taking the 2000 Jaguar F-Type concept in production. Regarding Land Rover, there has been no work together with Pininfarina.
