With the 500,000th vehicle delivery since its market debut in 1996, Mercedes-Benz has reached now another milestone having the successful compact roadster SLK. All in all, around 310,000 buyers opted for an unit from the first generation of the dynamic two-seater, and the successor has sold now 190,000 models since its market debut in March 2004.
鈥淲ith the launch of the SLK in 1996, Mercedes-Benz successfully established the premium segment for compact roadsters. Thanks to innovative technology such as the vario-roof and the neck-level heating system AIRSCARF, the SLK has long been recognized as a cult car of modern times,鈥� expains Dr. Klaus Maier, the Executive Vice President Mercedes-Benz Cars, responsible for the Sales and Marketing. 鈥淭he new-generation SLK models, which we are delivering to customers since April 2008, are sportier than ever. I鈥檓 confident that the dynamic looks and performance of the new SLK will again set pulses racing among sports cars enthusiasts around the world.鈥�
If desired, the SLK unit is available also with the newly created direct-steer system and all new-generation audio plus telematics features. Like the predecessor, the ultimate SLK is made in the Mercedes-Benz Bremen factory, the brand鈥檚 center of excellence up for its open-top cars.
