Today Car Magazine revealed new details about the upcoming R8 line-up. First to be debuted will be the V10 variant of the R8 sports auto. It will be available run this year in autumn, but without the trick twin-clutch gearbox of the firm.
It will run with the RS6鈥檚 V10 5.0-liter engine mated by exactly the same six-speed manual plus the R-tronic robotized manual from the present variant.
Styling tweaks to this V10 R8 will be limited, but will feature the bigger side air intakes helping cool the bigger engine.
Next in line will be the R8 Spyder; it will be introduced in 2009 and it is the last decided R8 derivative, this according to the engineering sources in the firm.
Audi increased the production already from 25 autos a day to 28, but the firm announced there is really no point bringing a diesel variant in the future: "Why would we launch the R8 with the V12 TDI engine now, when our order books are full and we have the high-performance V10 coming? There is no firm production date yet for the diesel".
