Rupert Stadler, CEO at Audi, announced that the firm plans to raise the number of auto units it makes from the present 26 to more than 40, this by 2015.
He said this production will be expanded also, with the option of creating a factory in the US being examined.
"We are studying the possibility of having a manufacturing plant in the U.S.A.," he affirmed, adding that Audi could really do this together with the parent firm Volkswagen.
But he said it's possible also Audi may set up its own personal United States production facility.
The A1 minicar unit will be debuted in 2010 and will be made exclusively in Brussels, offered as a hatchback, cabrio, sportback plus possibly a SUV model.
