Just nine years ago, the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group was ranked 11th on the hierarchy of the largest automakers in the world. However, many things can change in the vehicle industry in a decade plus the Korean carmaker jumped an amazing six spots to overtake the number 5 position.
That jump Hyundai/Kia ahead of such carmakers as Honda, Nissan, Peugeot, Fiat and Chrysler, according to the AutoIndustry.co.uk.
Hyundai/Kia sold in 2007 3,961,629 autos worldwide – with the American representing around 800,000 of those sales – to only beat out Honda having 3,831,000 sales. Ford holds now the number 4 spot, posting 5,964,000 sales last year.
