Mercedes finally unveiled the SL65 AMG Black Series 2009, an unit limited to just 200 models for the market in US, each costing $320,000.
The new Black Series SL65 AMG coupe has a carbon-fiber fixed roof, hood, trunk lid and front and rear aprons, front fenders. With all the super-strong, lightweight parts and the retractable roof hardware absence, the auto is over 550 pounds lighter than the basic SL.
AMG placed under the hood a changed variant of the V12 6.0-liter AMG engine that delivers now 650 horsepower and staggering 738 pound-feet torque. The twin turbochargers are 12 percent bigger, passages for intake air plus the turbo waste gates have been changed, plus the intake air intercooler is more efficient with 30 percent. The result is 0-to-60 mph acceleration of just 3.8 seconds, plus an electronically limited maximum speed of 198 mph.
