Infiniti, an upscale Japanese auto manufacturer whose parent company is Nissan, introduced the high spirited and luxurious Infiniti EX35 for the 2008 model year at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. This luxury-oriented, compact crossover vehicle has a starting price of under $35,000; with the all wheel drive, top of the line EX35 Journey starting at just over $37,000.
Equipped with a 297 horsepower, 3.5 liter V6 paired to a 5 speed automatic transmission, the EX 35 is quick-going from 0 to 60 in just over 6 seconds- and it handles exceptionally well. In addition to sport sedan style handling and a sleek exterior and interior design, 5 passengers can ride in comfort surrounded by high quality materials and finesse and buyers are given a choice of rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. The base model EX trim comes standard with 17 inch alloy wheels, a keyless ignition system, a power adjustable driver seat, cloth upholstery, and automatic climate control. A sunroof and AM/FM/CD stereo system with an auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio are also part of the standard equipment list. The EX35 Journey trim adds leather seats and power folding second row seats. Noteworthy options include an Around View Monitor, which comes with a lane departure warning system and intelligent cruise control for a reasonable $1,950. A Luxe Elite Options Package and Technology Package are also available.
The Infiniti EX35 offers a comfortable ride and nimble handling that will appeal to driving enthusiasts. The Infiniti's fuel economy numbers are average for its class, with the rear wheel drive EX earning 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, while all wheel drive versions of the EX35 come in at 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. A less than ample back seat is probably the only drawback; otherwise the Infiniti EX35 is definitely worthy of consideration by those in the market for a luxurious, yet compact, crossover body style.
