Lincoln Navigator

The first generation Lincoln Navigator made its debut in 1998, as a full size luxury sports utility vehicle. The Navigator is available as a rear or a four wheel drive vehicle which has characteristics that are similar to the Expedition manufactured by Ford. Though the navigator has one important difference it has bucket seats for both front and back passengers and a console in the center of the vehicle. The Navigator is powered by a 5.4 Liter V8 engine which is rated at 230 horsepower. The Navigator can tow 8000 pounds. In 1999, the ratings of the vehicles engine got a boost of 30 points. Later that year it got an electronic ally controlled system that helped its automatic gear system to shift gears. Also introduced was a third row of seats which were located on rollers which made it easy for its removal or fixing. In 2000 airbags were installed in the side for the front passengers. Also a small fan and heat pump which circulated air was installed for the front seats. Installed as options were a navigation system and a system that would warn the driver about an object when he was reversing the vehicle. 17 inch tires became standard equipment. In 2001, all Navigators got free maintenance check ups for the first three years or 36,000 miles.

The second generation Lincoln Navigator made its debut in 2003. It got a new independent suspension so that there was more space for those seated in the third row to stretch their legs. It was now available in three versions, Luxury, Premium, and Ultimate. All three versions were powered by a 5.4 Liter V8 engine rated at 300 horsepower. The sole transmission system was a four-speed automatic. The vehicle was available with rear-wheel a four-wheel drive. The vehicle was equipped with disc brakes on all four tires. 18 inch tires, seats made of leather and curtain airbags for the first two rows of passengers. In 2004, a system to monitor tire pressure was added, so was a system to make sure that the vehicle does not roll over. The Premier version was dropped from the line up. In 2005, it got a new 5.4 Liter V8 engine rated at 300 horsepower that was married to a six speed automatic suspension. A new version has been added in 2007, called the L model.
