2008 Lincoln Town Car

The 2008 Lincoln Town Car remains a favorite among drivers who appreciate the status, luxury, space and comfort of a large premium sedan and the traditional feel of rear-wheel drive. A large interior, an enormous 21 cubic feet of trunk space and a reasonable price highlight this feature rich sedan that seats 6 adults in lavish comfort. For the 2008 model year, Lincoln has minimized the Town Car lineup, reducing the number of trim levels from 4 to 2 and omitting several rarely purchased exterior colors.

This full size luxury sedan is available with a 117.7 inch wheel base as the Signature Limited, while the Signature L increases the wheel base by 6 inches, resulting in an even larger and more comfortable back seat. The Signature Limited comes standard with 17 inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, a power operated trunk, a wood and leather steering wheel with tilt/telescopic adjustments and integrated audio, speed and climate controls, power adjustable and heated front seats with driver memory settings, power-adjustable pedals, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and an AM/FM/CD audio system with CD changer. The Signature L has a greater overall length and includes all the features of the Signature Limited while adding heated rear seats, rear seat audio and climate controls, a folding armrest with storage compartment and two auxiliary power outlets, additional adjustability options for the front passenger seat and rear seat vanity mirrors. The only available options are factory installed xenon HID head lights and a dealer installed satellite radio system.

Both versions of the 2008 Town Car are powered by a 239 horsepower 4.6 liter V8 moderated by a four speed automatic transmission. The power to weight and power to fuel ratio is somewhat imbalanced, and therefore drivers can expect relatively slow but steady acceleration and a 0-60 mph time of about 8.5 seconds with the Signature Limited and a slightly longer amount of time for the Signature L. Typical for its length and curb weight, fuel efficiency is not one of the Town Car's accolades and EPA ratings of about 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.

The Lincoln Town Car is nostalgic and reliable and will appeal mostly to those who have previously driven and enjoyed the smooth yet nautical like riding large luxury sedan - or spent time as a limousine driver. The high quality materials, fit and finish are hard to beat, but more sensible and fuel efficient vehicles are available to accommodate 6 passengers and a decent amount of cargo without the overall immense dimensions of the Town Car.
