The Pontiac G5 came on the scene in 2005. The car was known as the Pontiac Pursuit during 2005 and the beginning of 2006 in Canada. Later it was called the G5 Pursuit there. In Mexico, the car was called the Pontiac G4 in 2005-06. It first arrived in the United States in 2007. The car has the same body as that of the GM Delta. The G5 model is available as an entry level coupe and a GT version in the United States, while in Canada it is available in entry level, SE and GT versions. The United States entry level version is powered by a 148 horsepower 2.2 Liter I4 engine while the GT version derives its power from a 173 horsepower four cylinder DOHC 2.4 Liter engine. Both engines have a five speed manual transmission. They are equipped with a music system that has AM/FM radio, a decoder to play MP3s and a jack that can fit other music systems like IPods. Optional on both versions are a sunroof and side airbags.
The Canadian G5 entry level and SE models are powered by a 145 horsepower 2.2 Liter engine with the option of a five speed manual or four speed automatic transmission. The GT version is powered by a 171 horsepower 2.4 Liter engine and has 17 inch tires. The SE model is equipped with 16 inch tires, anti-lock brakes, air conditioning and cruise control. All The equipment located on the SE model can be added as options on the entry level model. The SE also gets a leather steering wheel and shifter knob.
