2008 Pontiac G6

The stylish coupes, convertibles and sedans represented by the 2008 Pontiac G6 lineup offer abundant safety features, comfortable, well designed cabins and overall high quality materials, fit and finish. There are 4 engines and 2 transmission choices for the G6 lineup, which includes the Value Leader, Base, GT and GXP 4 door sedans; GT and GXP coupes and the GT retractable hard top convertible. The 2008 models are essentially carried over from the previous year with the exception of a new GXP trim and the addition of Onstar, antilock brakes and side airbags to the standard equipment list for all versions of the G6.

Among the sedans, The Value Leader features 16 inch wheels, air-conditioning, power windows, mirrors and door locks; a four-way manual driver seat with power height adjustment, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a tilt/telescoping steering column and CD player with auxiliary jack. The Base model G6 gets 17 inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry and cruise control, while both the GT sedan and coupe as well as the convertible models further enhance things with a more powerful V6 engine, sport-tuned suspension, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, and an 8 speaker Monsoon sound system with satellite radio and a subwoofer. The sedan version of the GXP features a rear spoiler, and all feature filled GXP models, including the convertible, come with eye appealing 18 inch chrome wheels, automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, power driver seat and heated front seats. Individual options and option packages are available and offer desirable features such as a remote start, power adjustable pedals and leather upholstery. The GT and GXP Street Edition Option Packages provide their own distinctive performance inspired exterior enhancements.

The entire fleet of Pontiac G6s is equipped with front wheel drive. The Value Leader and G6 sedans both come with a 4 speed automatic transmission. The Value Leader and the Base model come with a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine that produces 164 horsepower. The GTs comes standard with a 3.5 liter V6 that delivers a more class respectable 219 horsepower, while the higher performance GXP models boast a 252 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 mated to a 6 speed auto/manual transmission. For those looking for a little more excitement, there is an optional 222 horsepower 3.9 liter V6 engine available for the GT convertible. Gas mileage estimates are for the most part average for the particular segments across the board.

All G6s have a respectably sized cabin for their class-even the convertible. The convertible's power operated retractable two panel hard top roof stows easily, quickly and quietly. However, trunk space is sub par in the convertible with only 12.6 cubic feet of cargo room with the top up-put it down and trunk space is reduced to just over 2 cubic feet. Although not true high performance vehicles, the 2008 Pontiac G6 will work well for those looking for a reliable and sporty looking coupe, sedan or convertible.
