The first generation Nissan Altima Hybrid made its debut in 2007. The Hybrid derives its power from a combination of two engines, there's a 2.5 Liter engine having four cylinders and that is rated at 158 horsepower and an electric motor that is rated at 40 horsepower. Both the gas engine and the electric motor have the ability to work together or can work independently depending on the traffic and road conditions. Many hybrid vehicles achieve even greater fuel savings by a process called regenerative braking; applying the brakes acts to recharge the battery. The Altima has a fuel economy of 42 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highways. Its fuel economy ratings are 16 miles per gallon better then the Altima on the city roads and almost the same on the Highways. The vehicle is equipped with a continuously variable transmission.

The 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid is equipped with 16 inch tires, a telescoping steering wheel, one can start the car or enter it without the need for keys, temperatures inside the car are controlled automatically in two zones, drivers seat that could be adjusted in eight different seats using power, seats made of velour cloth and a music system with 6 speakers and a CD player. If you get the Hybrid with the Convenience Package, options include headlights that switch on automatically, a steering wheel wrapped in leather with controls for the music system located on it, a windows whose glass can be automatically pushed up or down and a rear spoiler. If you get the Connection Package it has all the above equipment but adds a moon roof, air conditioning vents in the rear, seats made of leather, front seats that are heated. This Nissan Altima Hybrid package also comes with Bluetooth connectivity, a HomeLink system, a rearview mirror that dims the lights of the traffic and a music system which is equipped with a CD/MP3 player that can store 6 CDs which has 9 speakers and satellite radio, speakers are manufactured by Bose. The Technology Package gets all the above equipment plus a navigation system and a camera that is placed in the back that helps the driver park the vehicle.
