The debut of the Saturn Aura for the 2007 model year challenged automotive consumers as well as industry experts to take another look at Saturn as a company and as a manufacturer of an elegantly designed midsize sedan. Until recently, Saturn was primarily viewed as a manufacturer of rather benign and low-cost vehicles. The price tag for the 2007 Aura was right in line with other midsize sedans, but its overall focus on superior quality deserves serious consideration by those shopping for a midsize car.

The exterior of the Aura features a classic European design with distinctive clean lines. The interior is also reminiscent of midsize sedans from across the pond, sporting a more upscale and luxurious cabin than any of the previous Saturn models. There are three models available-the XE, the XR and a Green Line Hybrid rendition. The XE is the base model and features 17" wheels, full power accessories, air conditioning and a premium stereo system with CD player and auxiliary jack. This model comes with a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 224 horsepower and a four-speed automatic transmission. The XR is more luxuriously equipped, riding on 18" wheels and featuring heated leather seats, a remote starter, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. The upscale XR has a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 252 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually with the paddles located behind the steering wheel. The Greenline Hybrid is equipped the same as the XE with the exception of having 16" wheels and, of course, runs on a more fuel efficient and cleaner burning combination of gas and electric. All models features front-wheel drive and a MacPherson strut front suspension with four-link independent rear suspension that delivers an exceptionally nimble, responsive and smooth ride.

All versions of the 2007 Saturn Aura exhibit a strategic design that balances ride quality, handling, safety features and a luxuriously equipped cabin and has definitely become one of the more feature rich yet affordable midsize sedans on the market.
